home :-) history
Clown One Italia is a lively and determined non-profit association born in Milan in 2000. However, its origins date back to 1994 when, on the occasion of a festival on alternative medicine, we met Patch Adams - a clown who is also a doctor and a political activist that, for the first time, visited Italy to propose the revolutionary idea of medicine based on compassion, joy, care and humor.
Ginevra Sanguigno, actress and clown, met dr. Patch Adams in 1994 and decided to follow him in his extraordinary humanitarian missions. In 1997, she joined the team of the Gesundheit! Institute – the association founded by dr. Adams – and in 2000, with his support, Ginevra decided to create Clown One Italia.
Nowadays, Clown One Italia cooperates with hundreds of red nose ambassadors, physicians, volunteers and social workers to provide care, “clownish” support and help in war zones, orphanages, hospitals and developing countries.
Over the years, Clown One has promoted humanitarian missions in the following countries: Afghanistan, Cambodia, Palestine, Ivory Cost and Nepal. Clown One took aid to Sri Lanka and other Asian countries struck by the tsunami and in other distressed areas of the world such as Brazil, Peru, Argentina and Africa.
Clown One organizes workshops, master classes and seminars to enhance and develop one’s impish creativity, playfulness and support strategies. Thanks to the cooperation of actors, body workers and counselors, Clown One organizes theatre performance workshops, clowning seminars, courses of animation theatre as well as dynamic meditation/dance classes.
Clown One Italia is determined to fly its multi-coloured “little aeroplane” all over the world in order to bring love, care, joy, happiness and hope to people who need it the most. Come aboard!
