CLOWN

As a clown I did many clown trips to different countries in the world. I started as a very shy and insecure clown, but the more trips I made, the more I opened myself up to people. And that’s what is necessary: that clowns open up to people, making contact, trying to find a heart-to-heart connection with people. And throughout the years I became more confident about myself, feeling that whatever I do as a clown is good enough, because I clown with my heart full of love.

Also in my own country, as a clown, I visit a lot of people. Especially older people. And what I feel and see is, that in our society full of individualism, greed and power, we miss the close and warm contact between people. The older people are the forgotten ones in our society and they need to be heard, to be hold and to be listen to.

Clowning is no longer being funny anymore. Clowning goes beyond that. For me clowning must come from the heart, full of love, warmth and openness to other people. Holding hands can be enough, an arm around someones shoulder, listening to their life story, making music or singing together, all these small things can be enough to give people a moment full of happiness.

It makes me happy to see people smile when I come into their house or into their room. It makes me happy if I see people relax, because somebody has the time to listen to them, or just be there for them. It makes me happy to see people forgetting their pain and loneliness for a moment and enjoying the visit. It makes me happy that I can make things like that happen. For me clowning does not mean that people have to step into my world, but that I step into their world, doing and giving the things that they need.

Clowning makes me a better person every time I do it. So the more I clown the bigger my heart becomes and the more I want to clown again. There is a lot of love needed in our world and I have a lot of love to give.
